Presentation Objectives: The AMA’s has a committed effort to improve the health of the nation through the prevention of chronic disease through evidence-based programming. Specifically, the AMA is focused on the 86M American adults at risk of developing diabetes by engaging with employers, insurers, physicians and community organizations. AMA is committed to Michigan in particular, to help develop a perspective that other states could model. As part of this effort, the AMA has developed a cost savings calculator (PreventDiabetesSTAT) as a tool for an employer to determine the impact a prevention program can have on the organization.
